VCM 801: Developments in Veterinary Science (1 Credit Unit)
A review of recent developments in the veterinary sciences and allied disciplines: emergent and resurgent diseases-epidemiological factors favoring emergence/recrudescence and prospects of control. Discoveries and innovations in biomedical research; state of the art and novel research techniques and equipment.
VCM 802: Advanced Diagnostic Medicine (3 Credit Units)
Laboratory study of the various diagnostic tests for the common infectious disease of food and companion animals and birds in the tropics. Emphasis is on sample collection, handling and the choice of assays. More emphasis on test results and interpretation especially the nucleic-acid based assays.
VCM 803: Research Ethics (1 Credit Unit)
Principles of research integrity, responsible conduct of research, animal welfare and ethics are to be discussed.
VCM 804: Advanced Case Study and Case Reporting (3 Credit Units)
Clinico-pathological study of clinical cases. Presentation of results in form of seminars.
VCM 805: Clinical Procedures (2 Credit Units)
Procedures for history taking, examination of the environment and the patient as well as the institution of therapy in food animals, companion animals and birds.

Reactions of nervous tissues to various types of injury by infectious and non-infectious agents with emphasis on the clinical manifestations in the eye, nose, throat and ears of the domestic species.

Non-infectious (nutritional deficiencies and metabolic disorders) diseases of birds, their prevention and treatment.
VCM 811: Dermatology (2 Credit Units)
Detailed study of the anatomy, physiology and reactive changes in response to both systemic and topical assaults from the infectious and non-infectious agents. Diagnosis and management of the inflammatory and non-inflammatorv reactions of the skin to injury.
VCM 812: Equine Medicine (3 Credit Units)
Current advances in the concept and practice of equine medicine. It is focused on the diagnosis and management of common diseases of horses in the polo and police mounted troops
VCM 813: Special Seminar (1 Credit Unit)
Detailed study and analysis of any selected subject of clinical or clinico-pathologic interest in veterinary medicine and presentation in form of a seminar for assessment.

Current advances in the concept and practice of Small Animal Medicine, focused on the diagnosis and management of the major diseases of dogs and cats in the tropics.

This is a follow-up seminar/post-data or bench work findings. It should cover research findings, detailed analysis and interpretation of research results, discussion of findings in view of previous reports and new ideas emanating from the study, conclusion and recommendations for future work.
VCM 898: Thesis Seminar II (Post-data seminar) (1 credit Unit)
This is essentially a pre-data seminar on the research focus of the student’s project covering the title, objectives and scope of the work, review of relevant literature, experimental design and methodology.
