The University Librarian of UNAAB, Mr. Abayomi Tunji Agboola has served the university meritoriously for 27 years and would complete his second tenure as UNAAB second University Librarian on May 24th, 2011. Mr. Agboola is an icon of library and information profession, a seasoned university library administrator and an active member of Nigerian Library Association. It is true of an adage that says ‘whatever has a beginning must surely have an end’. Mr Agboola’s humble beginning as a Library Assistant, rather than discouraged him, emboldened and propelled him to the pinnacle of his career as a University Librarian. It is indeed a glorious and triumphant exit from the system where he has nurtured and mentored younger librarians and other categories of officers and staff.
He took over as the University Librarian from Dr. T. M. Salisu, the present Director, INHURD on May 25th, 2001. In a few days’ time, he will complete his tenure and cease to be a University Librarian and, in a few months time, join the league of the URs (University Retirees).
As it is in the tradition of ‘Nimbe Adedipe Library, the staff of the library are putting things together to organise a befitting send-off party in honour of their out going boss. The staff of ‘Nimbe Adedipe Library will miss him greatly. We, however, wish him a peaceful retirement and long life.
