PROJECT SUMMARY: CAVA II will increase the incomes of at least 200,000 value chain actors, especially smallholder farmers and processors in Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi, by at least USD177 million in 5 years. This will be achieved through stimulating sales of more than 2 million tons of cassava into HQCF and other cassava product value chains. CAVA II intends to work across the value-added cassava chain, specifically focusing on a number of bottlenecks that have slowed growth and progress from previous projects.
While this project is intended to target smallholder farmers first and foremost, it will also create new employment opportunities and improve balance of payments by reducing imports (e.g. of wheat). Finally, this project is designed to specifically benefit women, youth and the socially disadvantaged groups.
