PROJECT SUMMARY: This project has four major objectives:
- To identify the gene responsible for Fusarium wilt resistance in some tomato genotypes
- To screen one hundred and fifty accessions of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) for the presence of gene resistant to Fusarium wilt using molecular marker techniques.
- To develop protocols for efficient regeneration of somatic variants of farmers-preferred local varieties of tomato
- To conduct an agro-mediated genetic transformation of farmers-preferred varieties of tomato for wilt resistance.
